Biography

I offer mediation that builds upon trust, respect and dignity. Couples wishing to separate or divorce enter a safe, neutral and healing environment in which to communicate; are coached, if desired, on how to discuss their separation with their children; develop a mutually-defined agreement (referred to as a Memorandum of Understanding) that specifies how they will proceed in regard to parenting, child support, distribution of assets and debts, and spousal maintenance; and learn how to legally process and finalize the completed agreements. The voluntary and respectful nature of mediation well-complements the collaborative process to the benefit of clients. In mediation, other professional guidance is often invited into the process to ensure that decisions are based upon sound and expert information. This type of professional cooperation is consistently practiced in collaborative law. It is an honor to be welcomed to participate in such a mutually respectful process to promote both peace between clients and the well-being of their children. While the majority of my clients are seeking separation or divorce, I also work with people who hope to manage or resolve conflict in the areas of work, their faith communities, special education and extended family, incorporating experience to achieve healing and harmony. My private mediation practice reflects over 30 years of combined professional experience in mediation, facilitation, executive leadership of social services agencies, advocacy for abused and neglected children and for people with developmental disabilities, human rights and counseling. I am also active in community conferencing and restorative justice.
